I was wondering what is more worth being a RN or a Nurse practitioner? Also in the future is it possible after around 10 years of working as an RN could I possibly buy a million dollar home, with saving money?I am a Nursing Student going to be a RN. Incomes will vary from place to place, but being an RN or APN probably will neither one bring you enough money to buy a million dollar home. A lot of the people who go into Nursing do it because of a passion and to be comfortable financially, not wealthy.
Surgeons, Dentists, M.D.'s that specialize in things like Cardiology and Oncology I would imagine would be more likely to be that wealthy. But the amount of money you spend in Student Loans to go to medical school would defer that million dollar home plan for a while too.Go to www.bls.gov. Look for the occupational handbook. It is in one of the categories on the right hand side margin. Look up RN and Nurse Practitioner. It will tell you how much schooling, how much you make, the job outlook in years from now, etc. It is a really good site for referencing different jobs.A nurse practitioner is a RN, with extra training who works directly with a doctor. The NP can prescribe certain meds, make some diagnoses and is directly involved in patient care. If you wish to become rich rich rich, then nursing isn't the answer. I can't see you owning a million dollar home after ten years unless you save every penny you make. People do not go into nursing for the money, but they do make a respectable living.Nurse practitioners make good money. They basically do work similar to doctors, they can prescribe meds and see patients.
My sister-in-law got her 4 year degree in nursing. So she has a BSN. There is no way she will be able to buy a million dollar home.
Be a nurse practitioner if you hope to make good money.
Good luck#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
